For my research, I had to consider a few factors and other variables along with sunlight being my explanatory variable.

1. Cloudy days – There were a few days when the sky was cloudy almost all day. So those days had no effect on my samples because none of them were exposed to sunlight. However, when only a portion of a day was cloudy, the hour of sunlight received by my four samples was impacted. As a result, the cloudy environment was a confounding variable at times and not at others.
2. Another variable for my samples was watering the flowers. I use to ensure that each of my samples receives an equal amount of water, so that water does not become a confounding variable in my samples.
3. The third and final variable was human-animal interaction. Which was a confounding variable for my samples because they were out in the open, so squirrels, dogs, and even small children were attracted to them, along with other insects and animals.
