My project is comparing the number of arthropod species on trees of different conditions. Overall, I am looking at if the different tree conditions create a more desirable habitat that can support more life. Due to the fact that I am strictly looking at number of different species and not individuals, there could also be other factors at play such as if a predatory animal is present on one tree, it could deter other species from that location. The key terms for my project are species richness, arthropod habitat, tree conditions.
I would think predators would be more of a chance event unless predators are more likely on some tree species or tree conditions than others. Overall, this is a good start and you will want to dig into these theoretical concepts for your introduction.
