I chose to use systemic sample placement, ensuring the initial sample point for the divided sections was randomly selected. Using a 1m2 Quadrat I chose to do 10 replicates for 10 days.
I think the only problem, I have had with implementing my sample design, is the weather changes. It gets darker around 5 pm and in the morning the ground is wet and at due point. Although I noticed that just before it started snowing, the dandelion field in the middle of the lawn, starts flowering more compared to other parts of the lawn.
I believe the combination of the increased moisture in the air and compact soil is causing this phenomenon. Which in turn, favors my hypothesis that soil porosity impacts dandelion abundance.
Do you still have enough dandelions in Manitoba at this time of year?
I took the sample during the first week of October
