Theoretical Perspectives

The hypothesis of my research posits that sunlight exposure significantly influences moss growth on green ash trees. I aim to investigate the dynamics of moss growth on green ash trees, with a particular focus on the observation that the shaded west bark side of the trees exhibits the most significant moss growth compared to other sides. The theoretical basis of my research lies in the principles of microclimatic variation, particularly how variations in sunlight affect moss growth on green ash trees. Furthermore, my study explores the broader implications of moss growth dynamics within urban ecosystems, considering factors such as sunlight exposure and moisture levels. By examining moss growth patterns on green ash trees in an urban context, I aim to deepen our understanding of urban ecology and shed light on how sunlight exposure and its indirect affect on moisture (when it comes to shade) contribute to moss growth patterns.

The three key words are below:

Moss growth

Sun exposure

Microclimate variation
