My research is based heavily on the work we did through the second chapter of our Ecology textbook, initially focusing on species diversity and abundance in relation to the environmental influences and how this affects plant communities overall. As my observations continued, I found the theory of limiting factors described many of the results in my data. Using these theories, I attempted to link these theories to conservation and sustainability theories also covered in this course; using the correlation between the presence of different abiotic factors; including nutrients, moisture, and structures present (structures meaning rocks, twigs, etc.); and the positive or negative trend in species abundance and diversity.
