For my data collection I created 5 transect lines each 80 meters long. The transect line started from the area closest to the creek which I called 0 meters and extended up to the area furthest from the creek which was at 80 meters. I divided the transect into 3 zones of closest, medium and furthest from the creek. At each zone a 10 meter circular plot was created and I recorded the number of trees present in each circular plot. I didn’t have any problems in collecting data as the process was straightforward. Also, the results obtained for this research project overall aligned with the hypothesis as the hypothesis expected that as the distance towards the creek decreases, the number of tree species will also decrease and this was the overall pattern seen in the results. Also since there were 5 transect lines there were 5 replicates from each zone.
